We have great pleasure in informing such members and those who would join us

including those which were provided earlier. What is amazing of the
new arrangement is that as soon as one clicks the
submit button, it is automatically uploaded and listed in an

4th July, 2008 The last
week of April witnessed two more members in the Forum. They are:Dr.
M. Akhter Hossain
and
Mr. Mahamud Hasan.
Dr. Hossain, an M.Sc in Biochemistry from DU and Ph.D. from Tokyo Institute
of Technology (TIT). After having done post doctoral from TIT, Joseph
Fourier University (France) and University of Melbourne he joined Howard
Florey Institute, University of Melbourne as a Senior Research Officer
(SRO-4). Mr. Hasan, an .S. in Biochemistry from BAU is at currently as a
Scientific Officer at the National Forensic DNA Profiling Laboratory, Dhaka Medical College. In the first
half of April the members who joined the Forum were
Ms.
Zannatul Ferdous, an MS in Biochemistry and Mol. Biol. from
DU and also an MS in Molecular genetics, University of Leicester, UK;
Mr.
Kanchan Chakma, an
MS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University
of Chittagong and
Ms.
Nazlee Sharmin, an M.S. in Biochemistry and Mol. Biol. (results
to be published soon) from DU. While Mr Chakma is working as a scientific
officer in the Tissue Banking
and Biomaterial Research Unit, Atomic Energy Research Establishment,
Savar, Ms Nazlee Sharmin has joined BRAC University in its Life Science
Faculty. Earlier

Among recent members, one has earned international distinction. He is Dr.
Maqsudul Alam, Professor and Director Advance Studies of Genomics, Proteomics
and Bioinformatics, College of Natural
Science, University of Hawai’i, Manoa, Honolulu. He headed a team of 85
scientists who completed construction of genomic library of papaya. The paper
is awaiting publication in Nature. He obtained MS and Ph.D. in
Microbiology from Moscow
State University and second Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Max-Planck Institute,
Germany. We are happy to say that Professor Alam has shown his interest in the
genomic library construction of jute. Dr. Sheikh Julfikar Hossain, a Ph.D.
from Yamaguchi University, Japan is an Associate Professor, Biotechnology and
Genetic Engineering Discipline, Khulna University. In 2005 he has been awarded
an International Patent on Anti-stress Agent (2005).Among

Sc. in Microbiology from DU, he did his Ph.D. in Microbiology from the University of Glasgow, UK and postdoctoral for The Ohio State University, Ohio and OmniScience Pharmaceuticals, Arizona, USA. His field of interest is, “Host-pathogen interactions and Disease-susceptibility genes in human.” His future plan is to discover targeted TB-susceptibility genes in Bangladeshi TB patient population by scanning their genetic "single nucleotide polymorphisms". Dr. Azad is also the VP of DUMAA and one of the key figures in raising sufficient funds to dedicate 2 beds in memory of Late Dr. Shahabuddin in the Ahsania Mission Cancer Hospital, Uttara, Dhaka.The past
month witnessed a number of new members. First in the archive list is Dr.
Ariful Haue. An M.Sc. in Molecular Genetics, Leicester University, UK,
Dr. Ariful Haque did his Ph.D. from Open University, UK. He
is currently a Ph.D. Fellow
in Molecular Pathology in ICGEB Science Park, Trieste, Italy,
engaged in research in CERES elements in the splicing
regulation process of CFTR exon 9 and exon 12.
Mr. Anwar Hossain, an Assistant Professor at the Dept.
of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Rajshahi, is
currently doing his Ph. D. at Okayama University, Japan. Mr Anower
Jabed (Bappy), an M.Sc. from Dong-Eui University, Busan, Republic of
Korea is a Ph.D. Fellow
doing his higher studies in Mol. Biology at
the University of Waikato, Hamilton, New Zealand. Mr.

at present doing his

Science from BAU, Ms Hasna obtained her Ph.D. in Agric. Chemistry
from Hokkaido University and at present employed as a post

Japan. As a lead author she has published in international
journals such as J. Plant Nutrition, Soil Science and Plant
Nutrition, Biotechnology. Mr. Dey, an MPH from BAU is doing
Ph.D. in Tokyo University in Public and Health and Health Management
system. We presented an illustrious account of Dr. Firdausi Qadri and Professor Alimul Islam. We have now another medical doctor,
Dr. Sania Ayesha in our Forum.
She earned the distinction of being one of the participants of a six-member Bangladeshi team to meet

The
Forum has three medical doctors, Muhammad
Zaman, Dr.
Md. Arifuzzaman at USTC,
Chittagong and Dr.
Fatima Ashrafi working as a
specialist in a New Zealand Hospital. Dr. Md. Zaman is a
Senior Scientific Officer, Columbia University Arsenic and Health
Research Project in Bangladesh. His research interest is in the
field of Cancer Epidemiology Biomarkers & Prevention. We
cordially welcome recently enrolled members, Mr.
Ahmad Humayan Kabir, an M.Sc. in Botany from Rajshahi
University. His research interest is in wood preservation by use of
chemicals derived from plants and in the micro- propagation of
endangered medicinal plants through tissue culture. The day before, the
Forum was enriched by the membership of Dr.
Abul Hussam. An M.Sc. in physical and analytical
chemistry from Dhaka University, he did his Ph.D. from the
University of Pittsburgh, also in analytical chemistry. On February
first, The
National Academy of Engineering (NAE)
awarded him One million worth USA dollar, being 2007
Grainger Challenge Prize for Sustainability in recognition of his
outstanding invention of SONO filter, which removes all traces of
arsenic from drinking water. We cordially welcome Dr. Hussam (cf. achievement)
to our forum, sincerely hoping that his will be an inspirational
role in the
promotion of GNOBB activities.Prof.

of Applied Science and Dr. Abul Hussam - inventor of
arsenic filter have further strengthened our team.

recent member was Mr. A. Gaffar Miah, Associate
Professor of genetics and animal Breeding at Dinajpur Government
Veterinary College. Currently he is on leave to do his Ph.D. in
animal biotechnology at Faculty of
Agriculture, Shizuoka Univ., Japan. Artificial insemination and
Animal Biotechnology is his special field. Earlier Ms.
Rozalynne Samir
enrolled herself as the member. She is
currently a Lecturer in the Department of
Biochemistry and Biotechnology, University of Science and
Technology, Chittagong (USTC). She is an M.Sc. in Biotechnology from
Banglalore University, India, her research interest being in
"Plant Molecular Breeding". During this week, we welcomed
two other members: Dr. M.
Fida Hasan and Dr.
Sheikh Shamimul Alam. Dr.
M. Fida Hasan is an M.
Sc. in Applied Chemistry and Chemical Technology,
Rajshahi
University
and a Ph.D. in
Molecular Science and Material Engineering,
Kobe University,
Japan. He is continuing as a postdoctoral
Fellow in the field of Process Engineering and
Applied Science in Dalhousie University, Canada. His
specialty is in the
field of Bioprocess, Biochemical and Genetic Engineering.
Dr. S. Alam, an M. Sc. in Botany, DU and Ph.D.
from Hiroshima University, Japan is a Professor of Botany, Dhaka
University. His research interest is in the
elucidation of genomic relationships in higher plants through
chromosome studies applying molecular tools. Mr.
Mohammad Khairul Alam, an M.Sc in Agronomy from BAU has
joined our forum bringing the total now to 201. He is doing Ph.D. in
Science of Bio-production, mainly focusing on nutrition of
ruminants. Our 200th
member is Dr.
Ashfaque Hossain. He is an M.Sc. in Microbiology from DU
and a Ph.D. in the same subject from the University of
Glasgow, UK. He is currently employed as a Senior Scientist,
Molecular Biology, Creighton University School of Medicine, Omaha,
NE, USA. Some of his publications are in the Journal of Virology and
Journal of General Virology. Based on his finding, Invitrogen has
developed and marketed a kit. His research interest is in
molecular and cellular microbiology of host pathogen interaction.
The previous day witnessed Dr.
Mohammed Mottaleb, Research Scientist, Department of
Chemistry and Biochemistry, Baylor University, Waco, joining
the forum. He is an M.Sc. in Applied Chemistry from Rajshahi
University and a Ph.D. from Strathclyde
University, UK in Analytical and Environmental Chemistry. For his
brilliant scientific achievements, he obtained two American awards
in 2005: one is Scientific and Technological Achievement Award
(STAA) and the other Science Achievement award (SAA). His research
interest is in the area of hemoglobin and DNA bound or adducts of nitroaromatics e.g., nitro
musks, TNT etc. as biomarkers of exposures to aquatic organisms.
The 198th
member is Professor
Dr. SAM Khairul Bashar, Pro-Vice Chancellor, North South
University and Dean of applied Science. In his message expressing
his desire to join our Forum he writes, "It would be my
pleasure to join the group and help build up this emerging cutting
edge science and its applications in Bangladesh." He is one of
the most brilliant products of
the Dept of Biochemistry & Mol. Biol., Dhaka
University. Before joining North South University as Pro-VC, he
spent a number of years mainly in two universities in North
America (as Chairman and Professor of Biological Sciences in
Southern University and A & M College, Baton Rouge, LA, USA; and
Professor of Biochemistry and Chairperson (Dean), Division of
Natural Sciences and Mathematics at the
University
of Alabama - Miles College, Birmingham, AL. During this
period, he along with his associates piloted
several externally funded projects, in human health, nutrition
including toxic effects of the presence of arsenic in drinking water
(cf. his
profile). A couple of days earlier Dr. M. Nasir
Uddin enrolled himself as a forum
member.
He is an Associate

currently on leave doing Postdoctoral Research as an Associate

engaged in determining the mechanism causing arsenic-induced Fe

employed as a Senior Lecturer in Northern University, Bangladesh.
The two latest members are:
Dr. Shoaib Chowdhury
, a Ph.D. from the Department of Molecular Biology, Kumamoto University,
Japan is now serving as a Research Associate at the Department of Neuroscience, Johns Hopkins University, School of Medicine, Baltimore, Maryland. Dr. Shoaib's
group have published recently two papers in the prestigious journal, "Neuron" (Neuron 52, 445–459 and 475–484, November 9, 2006). In one paper he is the lead author and in the second he is a coauthor.
The other member is Abdur Rahman
Sikder, a Doctoral Candidate
in the School of Information Technologies, the University of Sydney. His latest paper entitled, "Improving the performance of Domain Discovery of
protein domain boundary assignment using inter-domain linker index BMC
Bioinformatics 2006, 7(Suppl 5):S6". can be viewed online. Earlier

University. After finishing his Ph.D. from Osaka City
University Dr. Meraz is now employed as a postdoctoral fellow
researching on infectious diseases at University of Texas Health Science Center,
Houston.
Based in Goran, Dhaka, Mr. Faizur Rahman is a Director in RIFA
Enterprise, which supplies equipment and reagents to local
Pharmaceutical Companies. Mr.

Consulting Services (formerly Bangladesh Engineering and
Technological Services enrolled himself in the Forum. Before
that Mr.
Mohammad Khan, a Ph.D. student pursuing his studies at
the University of Mie, Japan on seaweed biotechnology and Dr. Siddique Ali
Miah,
who was until recently a coordinator of Advanced Studies and Research in
BRRI joined the Forum. Other recent members are
Abu Hashem, Junior Scientist, NIB working on enzyme
technology.
Mr. Azharul Islam and Dr.
Md. Monirul Islam. Mr. Azhar is an M.Sc. in Applied Microbiology and biotechnology from
the University of Westminster, London, his area of
specialization being plant polysaccharides. Dr Monirul is an M.Sc.
in Biochemistry from DU; he did his Ph.D. from
Medical Faculty, University of Nagoya, Japan and postdoctoral
from Japan, USA and Australia. He is at present employed as
Senior Molecular Biologist, Fiona Elsey Cancer Research Lab,
University of Ballarat, Australia. His area of research is
Ageing, Langerhans Cell Histeocytosis. Members enrolled recently are shown below each with a hyperlink.

Richard Malo joined the Forum early last month. He is an

his present position, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow in
National Institute of Health, Bethesda, MD.
Earlier Dr.
Arifa Ahamed, joined. She is
working as a postdoctoral
research associate in the Dept. of Biochemistry and Molecular
Biology, University of Massachusetts, USA. An M.Sc. in
Biochemistry from Dhaka University, she earned her doctorate
degree from Graduate school of Science and Technology, Kobe
University, Japan.
More recent list witnessed four members. One distinguished
member is
Dr. Rafiqur Rahman, Professor
of Biochemistry and Mol. Biol., who has just retired from Dhaka
University (Pl see the news item at the top of the homepage).
The other distinguished member is Dr.
K. Sultanual Aziz, who
retired as Associate Director, Cholera Research Laboratory
(presently) ICDDR,B, Dhaka. Besides being a scientist,
well-known for his contribution in the field of diarrheal diseases, Dr. KMS Aziz is an excellent scientific administrator
and organizer of technical meetings. GNOBB feel further
strengthened by the joining of the two stalwarts in
the field of biotechnology. With their and your help we will
march forward to achieve our goal that is to earn for our
beloved mother country a coveted place in this region.
Two other members in above list are:
Dr. M. Liakat Ali and
Dr.
Partha Samadder.
While Dr. Ali is at present a Research Associate in Nebraska
University, Linclon, Dr. Samadder holds the position of a
Research Associate (postdoctoral) in North Carolina State
University. Ali did his Ph.D. in molecular fingerprinting
of wheat from Texas Tech University, Lubbock and postdoctoral
from the Univ. of Guelph, Canada. Mr Samadder's doctoral
degree is in Fungal Mol. Genetics from
Gifu Univ., Japan. and post
doctoral experience in the University where he is working now as
a research associate. We have one more distinguished member but
we are awaiting his confirmation before he is enrolled. In the immediate previous list there were three: Mr. Md.
Nuruzzaman, Mr. Sajjad
Hossain and Dr. Zahid
Hossain. Other recent members are
Dr. Md. Abul Hossain Molla,
Associate Professor in Environmental Engineering, BMSMR
Agriculture University, Gazipur. An M.Sc. from BAU he did
his Ph.D. from Malaysia. His special field of interest is,
"Bioremediation and Recycling of Wastewater Sludge." For his
valuable contribution to environmental science, he received
several international awards from UK, USA, Malaysia etc. We do
hope that he will strengthen the Forum by his write-ups in this
less frequented but extremely important area of biotechnology.
May we suggest that The Ministry of Forestry and Environment,
GoB utilize his services to take up projects to make Dhaka and
other cities of Bangladesh free from pollutants
accumulating in Metropolises at a phenomenal rate.

Dr. Mohammed Serajul Islam,
Research Consultant , National Institute of Biotechnology and
Dr Badal Roy, a Ph.D. from the
School of Medicine, Osaka Univeristy and now a postdoctoral
fellow in the University of Tokyo. Dr. Serajul Islam is well
known for his work
in microbial genetics. Here are some of his
achievements. He biochemically
characterized SEX PHEROMONES (sex and fertility inducing
substances) in Neurospora crassa and succeeded in
bringing about genetic improvement of citric acid
fermenting strains of Aspergillus niger.
The special field of Dr. Badal Roy is cancer Biology.
Dr. Zahid Hossain, a
Ph.D. from the University of Hawaii has applied for membership
(#159). Dr. Hossain is requested to provide his email
address and the place where he is employed now to make his CV
complete.

members were Mr. M.
Kamruzzaman Munshi who is due to submit his Ph.D. thesis shortly
from Kyushu University Japan and Mr. Mohummad
Rahman who recently joined the Forum is doing his Ph.D. in Lund
University, Sweden. Mr M. Rahman is on study leave from the University of
Development Alternative, Dhaka. The other new member, Dr.
Mohammad Abdus Salam turned into an immunologist and vaccine
biotechnologist after his graduation from Dhaka Dental College. He is
now employed as a postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of microbiology University
of Alabama at Birmingham, Alabama, USA.
Two more members joined the Forum earlier. They are Sujit
Das and Mohammed Shafi
Ullah Bhuiyan Ani. While Mr. Das did his M.S. in
Aquaculture from BAU, Mr. Bhuiyan is a Ph.D. student in
Chungnam National University, Daejeon, South Korea. Earlier Mr. Bhuiyan did
his MS from the same University majoring in Plant Cell Biotechnology.
A couple of days previous to that period, Dr. Talat
Nasim and
Mr.
Imtiaz Khan joined the Forum.
Both Dr Nasim and Mr. Khan are at present employed at the U.K.
GNOBB feels stronger and stronger that BB of such outstanding qualifications
such as Dr. Nasim and Mr. Khan have decided to join the forum.
Dr Nasim is an M.Sc. in Botany from Rajshahi Universty. Thereafter he did
his Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Applied Molecular Biology from the Institute
of Science and Technology, University of Manchester. Currently, he is
employed in the
Division
of Genetics and Molecular Medicine at the
Guy's
Hospital King's College London, London. For the past five years he has
been working on genes underlying
genetic disorders including muscular dystrophy and pulmonary arterial
hypertension. Recently he co-developed a
technique for measuring protein-protein interactions in mammalian cells. His
work was published in the recent issue of Nucleic Acids Research [Vol.
33, No. 7, 2005]. The findings may have application in the area of
drug discovery. Earlier this Month, Dr. Nasim was interviewed by the
representative of Cell-Based Assay News. The latter
published the interview in its 2nd May edition (pp.
12-14) (http://ww.cba-news.com). Forum members will be
interested to read his interview
with "Prothom-Alo".
The second member in the most recent list is Mr.
Imtiaz Khan. He did his M.Sc. in Bioinformatics.
from Northeastern University, Boston, USA.
Later he received his post graduate degree in bioinformatics and thereafter
successfully completed an internship at Hewlett Packard, USA. He
is at present employed as a Research Fellow in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics
and Bioinformatics Unit, Cardiff University, Cardiff, UK. Mr. Khan has
been active in the fields of bioinformatics and computational biology for
quite sometime. His current research focuses on encoding time-lapse
microscopic images into numbers which invoke novel software development,
data structure implementation and algorithm generation. He has also
been involved with the research focused on neighboring nucleotide effect on
functionality of SNPs in the human promoter region. He has developed a
number of web based and stand-alone bioinformatics tools. He has an
excellent interdisciplinary team work experience with a strong biomedical
science background. The latest paper entitled, "A Simple Web-Based
Application for Interaction Analysis of Case-Control Data." of which he
is a coauthor has been published in BMC Medical Genetics 2006, 7:34. Part of the month of May saw the enrollment of Professor Dr. Naiyyum
Choudhury, the former Chairman of
Bangladesh Atomic Commission and now heading the
Department of Biotechnology at BRAC university; Mr.
A. K. M Abdul Baten,
an M.S. in Bioinformatics from the
University of Melbourne, Australia and currently doing Ph.D. in
the same University, Mr.
Md. Altaf Hossain Hossain, an MS in Horticulture
from BAU and at present employed as Senior Scientist in the Potato
section of Tuber
Crops Res. Center, BARI, Joydebpur.
A
few days earlier four senior scientists from Biotechnology
Laboratory, BRAC Research Center at Joydebpur joined the Forum.
They are Dr. Abdur Razzaque
Shah, Tissue Culture Specialist and In charge of the
Center, Mr.
M. Jalaluddin Bhuiyan, Ms
Shahana Akter and Ms
Maksuda Khatun. The Biotechnologist community of
Bangladesh owe to Dr. Abdur Razzaque Shah for his valuable
contribution, demonstrated that micro-propagation of vegetable-,
horticultural and medicinal plants via tissue culture is feasible
commercially. He uses indigenous material and cheap glass wares to
cut the cost of operation to the minimum. After meeting local
demands of disease-free potato seeds, BRAC is now exporting micro-
propagated material of other crops also.
Among
other recently enrolled members are Dr.
A. N. M. Fakhruddin, Senior Scientific Officer, Bangladesh
Atomic Energy Commission. Dr Fakhruddin did his masters in Microbiology from
D. U. and Ph.D. in Environmental Biotechnology from Dublin City University,
Ireland. The other is Ms
Fahmina Akhtar, Lecturer Dept. of Biotechnology, Bangladesh
Agricultural University (BAU), Mymensingh. She has an M.S. in Animal
Breeding & Genetics from the same University. The latest members
are Mr. Md.
Shahidul Islam M.S. (Fisheries), Lecturer Department of
Biotechnology, BAU and Mr.
Sharif Ar-Raffi M.Sc. (Genetics and
Plant Breeding), Assistant Professor,
Department of Genetics and Plant Breeding, BAU. The last four
members to our Forum are Ms.

Ahsan. Ms. Khatun and Mr. Hasan passed
out MS in Biotechnology from BAU and are serving the same University
as Lecturers in the Department of Biotechnology. Mr. Chowdhury, an
M.Sc. in Biochemistry is doing his Ph.D. at the International Prevention of
Epidemics Laboratory, Osaka Prefecture University, Japan. Mr. Nagib is doing
his Ph.D. in the Department of Animal Science and Biotechnology,
Kyungpook National University, South Korea. During his Ph.D. study he has
been able to clone the PGIP gene sequence from Brassica campestris.
The base sequence of the gene under reference has been deposited with NCBI
(Accession number: AY964100). Mr Ahsan has already five publications and a

Earlier
Dr.
Nurun Nahar Gazi, Senior Scientist, Center
of Excellence, University of Dhaka and her husband Dr.
Chowdhury Faiz Hossain joined the Forum. Dr. Gazi is an M. Sc. from Dhaka
University; She did her Ph.D. from the United
Graduate School of Agriculture, Ehime University. Japan; and
postdoctoral at the Department of Pharmacognosy, School
of Pharmacy, and at the
National Center for Natural Products, the University of Mississippi.
Among Dr. Gazi's achievements that deserve special mention is her
ingenuity that enabled her develop a High throughput bioassay for
selective anti-cyanobacterial agents from plants and marine organisms. GNOBB
have briefly reported that Dr. Gazi will
be operating
the DNA Sequencer machine, which
the Center of Excellence, Dhaka University has recently acquired.
Dr. Hossain did both his M. Sc. in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Ph.D. in
Bioactive Natural Products from Chiba University, Japan. He enjoyed
postdoctoral fellowship at two places: National Institute of Health Science,
Japan and the University of Mississippi. Until recently he held the position
of Associate Research Scientist at the School of Pharmacy, University of
Mississippi. Among many outstanding achievements, the one that deserves
special mention is that Dr Hossain isolated and characterized
(a) most potent bioactive small molecules, known to date, from aquatic
plants that inhibit hypoxia-induced HIF-1 activation through bioassay guided
separation; (b) active metabolites from marine organisms that inhibit
multi-drug resistance efflux pumps in resistant fungi. In recognition of his
outstanding achievements he was awarded the Jack L. Beal Award. One of his
papers (see Member's Profile) was adjudged by the American Society of
Pharmacognosy to be the best among those published in Journal of Natural
Products during the period between January - June 2005. Along with three
of his colleagues, Dr. Hossain has been awarded a patent for inventing an
anti-cancer drug; i.e., Saururus cernuus compounds that inhibit cellular
responses to hypoxia.

Ehsanul Haque. A graduate in Marine Science from Chittagong
University, he is doing his Ph. D. in bioinformatics at UT, El Paso. TX and
is expected to finish his degree by the end of the year.

Dr.
Aminul Islam, an M.Sc. from University of Edinburgh, UK did
his Ph.D from Hannover University, Germany. Currently he is a Visiting
Fellow at the National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada.
His research interest covers a wide field of biotechnology, namely,
proteomics, recombinant DNA techniques, plant tissue culture and
transformation. Dr. Bhadra is currently Professor of Botany,
Chittagong University (CU). Dr Shafiqur Rahman, a Ph.D. in
Microbiology from CU is an Assistant Professor there and chairs the
Department of Microbiology. Mr. Shaheen is an M.Sc. from CU and
did another M.S. from McGill University, Canada where he is at present
employed as a Research Scientist in the Department of Microbiology and
Immunology. While Dr. Masud Karim is a Ph.D. from Hanyang University, Seoul,
Korea, Mr. Bhuiyan and Mr. Nuruzzaman are Ph.D. students
in Seoul, Korea and Huazhaong Agricultural University, Wuhan, PR China,
respectively. At the end of today's list (January 31) we have Dr. Zakaria
Ahmed who is working as a postdoctoral fellow at the Enzyme Laboratory,
Biological Function Division, National Food Research Institute, Ibaraki,
after having done his Ph.D. at the United Graduate School of
Agricultural Science, Ehime University (UGASEU) of tropical and subtropical
agriculture.

Cochin University of Science and
Technology, Kerala.
A. Ph.D. from Tokyo University of agriculture and Technology, Dr. Ms
Meher Parveen is working as a postdoctoral in the National
Institute of Advanced Industrial Science & Technology (AIST),
Japan. In the same Center working as a postdoctoral is Dr.
Kamrul Hasan. Dr. Hasan did his Ph.D. from Institute of Medical
Science, University of Tokyo, Japan. A Ph.D. in Biology
from Kansan State University, Dr Ms Laila Farzana has moved to
North Carolina State University as Postdoctoral Research
Associate. romis now working. in Biology. Dr. is a Ph.D. from
Tohoku University, Japan and a postdoctoral from The University of
Texas M D Anderson Cancer Center, TX , USA. He is now
continuing in the same Center as a postdoctoral fellow. Next in the
present list is Dr. Md Hasanuzzaman working as a postdoctoral fellow
in Louisiana State University School of Veterinary Medicine, USA.
Dr. Zaman did his Ph.D. from Hokkaido University, Japan.

Kanazawa University, Japan, Dr. Rafiqul Islam is now serving as a
Visiting Researcher at The University of Tokyo. His is a very
important field in biotechnology, namely,
study of microbes
in the heavy metal polluted geo-aquatic environment and that of
Environmental health of rural population. After doing his Ph.D. from
Hort
Tech Center, Chungbuk National University, Cheongju, Korea,
Dr. Shohael is now working as a Research Fellow at the same
Institute. His research interest covers a wide range of disciplines,
namely, Endangered medicinal plants and their secondary metabolism,
Genetic transformation, Different molecular techniques, Functional
genomics, Environmental Stress Physiology, Plant Molecular and
Cellular Biology. While
warmly welcoming both of them to the
forum, we expect that GNOBB's scientific contribution in their
specific areas will be substantially enriched through their
ingenious contributions.
